New Product Review: Flower Beauty Lipstick

This past Saturday I did something that I rarely do…I went to Wal-Mart. When I lived in the south a few years ago, I would go to Wal-Mart on a regular basis for groceries and any odds and ends I needed. Now, I don’t have one close by and I never see the need to travel there.

I wanted to find fun board games for “game nights” that bae and I host at the condo and we thought Wal-Mart would probably have the best selection (at the lowest price!) I took the opportunity to check out the Flower Beauty line by Drew Barrymore since I’d heard so many great things about it. I was impressed by the display and array of products. There were cream blushes, eye shadows, lipsticks/lip pencils and even brushes! I decided to try a lipstick first because I’ve been loving experimenting with different lip colors lately.

I spotted a high shine deep berry shade that I thought would look amazing on me. It seemed to be the perfect mix of cranberry and plum. The tubes are sealed, so it’s impossible to swatch and be sure of color, but I took my chances and purchased it anyway. I was excited to try a high shine lipstick because I’ve been wearing more matte shades lately and this would be a dramatic change.

The first thing I noticed is that the color of the actual lipstick did not match the sample at the bottom of the tube. When I opened the lipstick it looked more red than anything! I didn’t get “berry” at all from this color unless they meant cranberry… The color went on glossy as promised, but throughout the day it bled horribly around my  mouth. I’ll know next time to use a clear lip liner to keep the color in place. I’ve got other reds that I’m loving right now, so not sure how often I’ll keep this one in rotation.

Have you all tried any other products from this line? What did you think?

I also spy a doggie package in the back of this shot!
