Next Saturday all my favorite ladies and I are getting together for a sleepover. This may sound lame to some, but I haven’t been to a sleepover since I was about 8 years old, and now that cocktails can be involved I’m over the moon excited. The idea started with us wanting to get together for a “pizza and wine night” which sounds amazing, but why stop there? We decided to turn it into an all nighter would be much more fun.
Since I’m always up for games, I volunteered to oversee all of the entertainment for the night. A good sleepover almost always involves a good movie, but with this crowd a couple of glasses of wine and a movie would more than likely have us all sleeping 45 minutes in. I’ve come up with a few ideas below that will bring out our inner pre-teen and provide a night of laughs.
1. DIY Friendship Bracelets – Honestly WTF
I mean, when was the last time you made a friendship bracelet? The last time for me involved a uniform, sash and slinging cookies. This tutorial shows you how to make chevron shapes and incorporate cool colors. I would modernize it by using black and metallic thread. If your crew is ultra crafty, these bracelets have even more of a modern touch.
2. Delicious Pizza Recipes – Southern Living
A nice switch to the traditional pepperoni is adding various veggies, sauces and even creating a dessert pizza!
3. Homemade Face Masks – Real Simple
A sleepover is not a sleepover without some type of beauty treatment. Since 1/2 of this crew isn’t totally girly and glam, skincare seems like a better option. Whip up a homemade mask and compare results.
4. Salted Vanilla Toffee Cookies – Delish
What diet? A sleepover is the best time to hang with your friends and NOT count calories. Instead of purchasing the traditional tollhouse chocolate chip (which I love BTW) whip up your own batch of cookies. These sound amazing. Annnndddd… you can even lick the spoon!
5. Create a dance routine
Am I the only one that did this as a child? We always took the opportunity to create a performance to our favorite tunes. Choose a song that doesn’t already have a dance to it, (no whipping and nae nae!) and create a short routine. If you are a social media person, share it with your friends and family!
6. Break out this classic favorite – Amazon
I’ve always loved Old Maid, but knowing me, I’ll probably change it to “Old THOT” or something like that lol.
7. Color Combinations for manis and pedis – Glamour
Manis and Pedis are also a must for sleepovers. Chances are you won’t want to touch each others feet, but this guide can make choosing colors fun.
8. Buddy up for a partner workout – Fitness Magazine
Depending on when the gathering starts, doing a workout will eliminate some guilt from the pizza, wine and cookies.
9. Binge on weekly tabloids – UsWeekly
Now is the time to discuss Gwen and Gavins breakup, Lenny Kravits’ #penisgate and the ever so popular Kardashian crew. Load up on them and have a gabfest.
10. Sing along to your favorite songs
There are some songs that you just can’t help but belt out. This is the time honey. Your moment. Cue “Unbreak my heart” and join your crew in an award winning performance!
