A Tale of Three Primers

Searching for the “perfect” anything is a never ending search. I’ve posted before about my favorite primer and pore filler, but I’ve still be on the hunt for a better one. Isn’t that the lottery effect of product testing? You keep trying and trying until the perfect product has been found. I’ve been searching for new primers to test for the past few weeks. I’m married to my NYX Pore Filler, but I’ve seen several YouTube artists that I admire rave about a few others and I was dying to try them. One I purchased, and the other came in an Ipsy bag. I must say, this was really fun.

1. Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser – They had me at “baby skin” I was loving the idea of slathering it on my face and having my pores disappear and a soft finish. While I did have a soft finish, the formula is a bit lightweight for my taste. I have larger pores on the apples of my cheeks and found that I had to build this product in order to smooth those areas. If you don’t have large pores, and simply need a light smoother, this product would be perfect.

2. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (Oil-Free) – I was happy that this came in my Ipsy box because I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. I found that it was even more lightweight than the Maybelline primer. Again, not the best for smoothing larger pores, but it dried almost instantly and didn’t leave a greasy feeling.

3. NYX Pore Filler – The king of all primers, this is still my first love. The consistency is thick, but the product really smooths the skin. I also don’t have to worry about this product separating, or wearing off. It ensures foundation will stay on all night. I use a small circular motion on the apples of my cheeks and my nose. It’s also the cheapest of all of the primers!  (Also, this is a photo of the same container I posted in my #empties post, but since I’ve been trying new primers, I haven’t purchased another yet!)

Are there any other primers I should try?
