Dutch Braid

Ok, so here is my pathetic attempt at the “dutch braid” trend that I’ve seen going around. I LOVE the look! When I don’t have my hair in a protective style (weave) I like to explore as much as I can with my natural hair without having to use heat. As much as I pride myself on being able to style my own hair, I’ve never been that great at braiding. This style requires two “French style” braids or “cornrows” going in two directions. One from the forehead to the nape of the neck, and the other from the nape of the neck to the forehead. I simply braided both sides and secured the ends with bobby pins. Although I wasn’t able to achieve the flawless crown I wanted, I did get a chance to use a sample sized product I’ve been holding on to. It’s the Dark and Lovely Healthy Gloss Moisture Hair Crème. Although it looks like a cream, once rubbed into hands it applies more like an oil. Before braiding I applied one medium squeeze (less for thinner hair) from root to tip to smooth flyway’s and add shine. Although my inexperienced pulling and tugging frayed it a bit, I was able to get great shine and a new do’ for the day.

You can find out more about the product here and purchase it in drugstores for $5.99
