Trial and Error: Nose Contouring

I’m going to open this post by saying that I have insecurities just like the next person, and I’m not afraid to share them! One of my biggest insecurities (and it pains me to say this) is my nose. I was gifted with the nose of my father whom I love dearly, but don’t love how rounded and button-like my nose is.

I’m not considering going under the knife, so I’ve decided to give contouring a try. I have seen a lot of contouring done and it looks amazing in photos and on film, but when I try to do it at home I am not pleased with the results. I realized that I am not too comfortable with super dramatic contouring and I’d like something a bit softer while I’m working on perfecting my technique.

Today I used a bare minerals foundation two shades darker than my natural complexion and a small shading brush down the bridge of my nose beginning at the tear duct and a bit of MAC Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish powder on the tip of my nose to attract more light. I can’t tell if I love it, or look like Rudolph!

What are your thoughts on contouring? Any tips?
